Project Overview

Artist Statement:

This poster represents the ATL influence for me as nature keeps me sane when I’m in the city. It’s a subtle reminder of home as I navigate my work or school day. Although Atlanta is surrounded by tall buildings and heavy traffic, I can’t help but to look at the trees when I’m driving by, or looking at the flowers that grow through the cracks. Whenever I think of a spokesperson for the lush greenery in the city, I make the connection to the Earth Goddess that resides in the botanical gardens. She oversees the city and its nature, being a symbol of the beauty and mysticality of it all. There’s a sense of whimsy and spirituality, even though the city is so logical and concrete. I combined these aspects with the style of art nouveau, as its flowing lines are inspired by nature after all. Even though Atlanta is everchanging, I hope Mother Earth is here to stay.
