Dollup
3D Design | Packaging Design
Dolllup is a perfume line which was developed from January to May. It’s my final senior project that encompassed all my interests: cute things, makeup, and dolls. I wanted to create something that acted as an art piece and had a trinket vibe, but was actually functional. Thus, Dollup was born!
Each perfume has a different design and feel to match its designated fragrance. The process starts off as just sketches of each character, before moving on to Blender and sculpting the 3D model. In order to fit the perfume bottle, the perfume was split into two halves and had an internal cavity to accommodate the bottle. Once everything was created, it was resin printed and painted by me. The box packaging was then created to display the perfumes.
I had never done anything like this prior, but I learned so much about developing 3D design and discovered it to be another one of my interests! All my hard work paid off when I displayed this at my exhibition,
Modelling Process
Each model was sculpted in Nomad Sculpt. This was done by producing two halves that could come together and fit the perfume bottle with an internal cavity. An internal insert for the packaging was also created using TinkerCAD.
Painting Process
I painted 6 models total which took me about a week to do. I divided and conquered as I waited for the layers of acrylic paint to dry. Lastly, I added a shiny coat to give them a porcelain look.
Packaging Process
Dielines were designed to fit the branding and theme of each perfume using their motifs. Clear acetate sheets were used to fill the box’s window.
Final Results
Dollup was then displayed at my senior exhibition! People were interacting and sampling the perfumes. I kept receiving questions on my process, but you already know how I did it :)
